Benefits of Laser Hair Reduction

How it works

Our experienced therapists will take your our consulting doctor account before creating a personalised treatment plan.

Our lasers use a large treatment spot size which allows multiple hair follicles to be targeted at the same time.

The Deka Motus AX & Episheer Diode Laser Hair Reduction are designed to work for clients of all skin types & hair types.

With each session, hair is reduced. We recommend an initial course of 8-12 treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart (depending on area and skin tone).

Preparation and Aftercare

No Wax

Do not wax in the 4 weeks leading up to your appointment as pigment is required in the hair follicle for the laser to identify the hair and treatment to be effective.

Avoid Using Topical Creams

Avoid using topical creams, moisturisers, body oils, colognes or perfumes to the area being treated prior to treatment.

If you are unsure, please contact us today.

Avoid Sun Exposure

Protect the treated area from sun exposure. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher if you need to go outside.

No Harsh Products

Avoid using any exfoliating, abrasive, or harsh skincare products on the treated area for a few days.

Gentle Cleansing

Cleanse the area gently with mild soap and water. Pat dry with a soft towel.

Clothing

Wear loose-fitting clothes to avoid irritation on the treated area.

Before & After

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Avoid chemical peels or laser resurfacing treatments at least 4 weeks before your treatment.

  • Avoid using topical creams, moisturisers, body oils, colognes or perfumes to the area being treated 24 hours prior to treatment.

  • Do not wax, use depilatory creams or pluck hairs four weeks prior to laser treatment.

Depending on the hair, skin type, and body area being treated, you will require treatments at 4-6 weeks intervals. For the facial area, treatments can be done at 2-4 week intervals. Each part of the facial and body area has a different growing cycle, so hair reduction will vary depending on what stage your follicles are in at the time of the treatment.

After each treatment hair is reduced hence it is important to complete the course of 10 treatments and at consistent intervals for best results. We recommend a series of 8-10 treatments and maintenance treatments every 2-3 months for permanent hair reduction.

One of the benefits of Laser Hair Removal is that the treatment is virtually painless, especially compared to waxing. Each pulse lasts less than a second, producing a slight tingling feeling. In particularly sensitive areas, such as the upper lip, it may feel like a rubber band snap on the skin. We use an advanced cooling machine in conjunction with our laser device to reduce the heat sensation on the skin and minimise any discomfort.

Unfortunately, topical numbing creams are not safe nor effective when doing Laser Hair Removal. The sensation you feel in treatment is not felt on the skin, but in the follicle of the hair. Unfortunately numbing cream cannot penetrate deep enough to minimise discomfort that may be felt at the follicle. Please ensure that no occlusive creams are present on the treatment areas when undergoing laser hair removal treatments.

Depending on your hair and skin type and the area being treated, you will usually require treatments at 4-6 week intervals. Each part of the body has a different hair growth cycle, so the hair loss will vary depending on what phase your follicles are in at the time of treatment.

Because we use only the most advanced medical-grade Candela Lasers for our Laser Hair Reduction treatments, we can treat medium to darker skin tones. We offer two different laser machines, the GentleLase Pro and GentleYag to achieve the safest, most effective results. Our laser technicians use the Fitzpatrick Classification Scale to determine your skin type at the consultation, allowing for the most suitable machine to be selected for your hair removal treatment.

GentleLase Pro is best for skin types with a fair to medium skin tone. GentleYag is best for skin types with a medium to darker skin tone. Your laser technician will assess your skin at each consultation and treat you using the most appropriate settings for your skin type and recent results. Your settings will change throughout the course of your Laser Hair Reduction treatments to ensure optimal results.

Our customers must be at least 18 years of age to have any laser or skin treatments.
For persons aged 13-17, the Parent/guardian must be present for consultation and first treatment and understand the procedure and aftercare.
We advise that due to hormonal changes/puberty, we do not recommend under 12 years of age.

This technology is TGA approved and uses Alexandrite technology to provide the best treatment results. Our advanced cooling machines used in all laser treatments cool your skin before, during and post-treatment to minimise any discomfort.

Based on current medical advice, we are unable to perform Laser Hair Reduction during the first trimester of pregnancy. We advise clients in the second or third trimester of pregnancy, to obtain mandatory medical clearance prior to proceeding with treatment.

Epilepsy sufferers are advised to consult with their doctor about having Laser Hair Reduction. An individual will need to obtain medical clearance from their doctor prior to starting treatment. At Laser Clinics, we also offer various options of protective eyewear to ensure your safety at all times during treatment.

Certain medications can cause photo-sensitivity to the skin and this may affect the skin’s reaction to the treatment. These medications are but not limited to oral and topical vitamin A’s, antibiotics, and certain anti-depressants. It is best to speak with your medical professional and obtain medical clearance. After obtaining medical clearance, we are able to test patch you with the laser to determine it is safe to commence treatment.
